Applied Learning in Action

On November 18, 2025, the Board of Education meeting showcased the incredible work happening at the high school. The focus was applied learning in action through student projects that showed real-world skills.
The Southern Tier Robotics Team, which consists of 25 students and 5 mentors were celebrated for their recent 1st place win at the Robot Rumble event in Ballston Spa, NY. At last night's meeting they demonstrated the robot for our Board of Education and meeting attendees. The Robotics Team is a part of FIRST robotics, an organization that inspires young people to become leaders in science and technology fields.
VHS students who are taking the Principals of Biomedical Science course presented on the problem solving and teamwork that guide their daily lab work and investigations. They also talked about how this class is preparing them for real world situations and how they are learning by doing. This hands-on experience is giving them early exposure to medical careers.
Representatives of the Marching Band accepted a recognition plaque from the Board of Education on behalf of the band and Director of Bands Jennifer Pham. The Marching Band has had an amazing season of incredible performances.
